Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System (FEMORS)

Bruce A. Goldberger, Ph.D. – The Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System (FEMORS) was inaugurated in 2002.  The FEMORS mission is to provide fatality management services during disaster events.  The Florida Department of Health, through the Bureau of Preparedness and Response, contracts with the University of Florida, through its College of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Maples Center for Forensic Medicine to serve as the management agency for FEMORS.  Upon request FEMORS will assist and support local District Medical Examiner Offices, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Florida Department of Health with identification of deceased individuals, preservation of evidence, return of human remains to families, and prevention of the spread of infectious disease. We are pleased to announce that the Department’s 2018-19 contract was recently renewed.
